Past (or through - my choice) Liverpool to the village of Hale, south of Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Coast walkers will join us on the canal somewhere in Litherland, heading south.
At Aintree you have the choice of following the official route (the 'Liverpool Loop Line') or my choice. This takes you to the start of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at Collingwood Dock, whence a short stretch along the busy Dock Road to the Pierhead, followed by a wonderful walk south along the Mersey to Liverpool Airport, where you have to dodge inland a little...
When you reach the canal turn right and not left. This leads you into Liverpool, ending at Collingwood dock, home of a famous six-sided clock.
